- Gain increased knowledge and skills for the effective practice of Lifestyle Medicine
- Describe career options and pathways in both the public sector and private sector, and explain the challenges and opportunities present in changing jobs and career focus throughout the professional lifetime of a preventive medicine physician.

Preventive Medicine 2012 will be featuring state-of-the-art educational sessions and skill building institutes within three conference tracks:
- Clinical Preventive and Lifestyle Medicine: This track covers a wide range of topics in evidence-based clinical prevention, including health promotion, early clinical detection and case-finding, counseling and risk factor modification, and intervention.
- Public Health Practice: This track encompasses innovations in population-based approaches to preventing and controlling disease. Sessions on this track aim to emphasize issues of public health significance.
- Prevention Policy: This track seeks to provide participants with an understanding of important and emerging national policy issues of concern to preventive medicine professionals, and to improve participants’ effectiveness in addressing policy issues of concern in their own communities.
